Welcome to the webpage of the NOAA Living Marine Resources Cooperative Science Center at Savannah State University (NOAA LMRCSC). Working in partnership with the students and faculty of the Marine and Environmental Sciences Department, the NOAA LMRCSC helps support research and education in oceans sciences and works to create an informed citizenry under NOAA's Mission and Vision.
NOAA's Mission:
Science, Service, and Stewardship. To understand and predict changes in climate, weather, oceans, and coasts, To share that knowledge and information with others, and To conserve and manage coastal and marine ecosystems and resources.
NOAA's Vision of the Future:
Resilient Ecosystems, Communities, and Economies. Healthy ecosystems, communities, and economies that are resilient in the face of change
The NOAA LMRCSC is hosted at Savannah State University under the office of NOAA Sponsored Programs, a cooperative unit under the auspices of NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service Southeast Fishery Science through the Galveston Laboratory.
In addition to conducting research, faculty, staff and students of the LMRCSC work with the community in a variety of ways. We reach out to children, ages 7-18, in the LMRCSC sponsored Coast Camp summer program as well as through the regional National Ocean Science Bowl competition for high school students.
